Personal Injury Litigation

JRP Ergonomics has provided many hundreds of expert witness reports in personal injury cases, but also offers advice in other cases where ergonomics may be material to the arguments.

Musculoskeletal Disorders

JRP's expertise is primarily in the area of musculoskeletal disorders. Reports have been provided in cases where the injured party has been diagnosed as suffering from various conditions, such as:

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Tenosynovitis
  • RSI
  • Back pain
  • Tennis elbow
  • Prolapsed intervertebral disc
  • Herniae
  • De Quervain’s disease
  • Cervical spondylosis
  • Rotator cuff syndrome
  • Extensor tendinitis
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Complex regional pain disorder
  • Chronic neuromuscular dysfunction

This service is available to either Claimant or Defendant representatives, but most reports are now produced on a Single Joint Expert basis. We can also offer advice in other cases where ergonomics may be material to the arguments.

Types of jobs where injuries have been investigated

Workers from many areas of employment have been seen, including: kitchen workers, secretaries, clerical workers, maintenance engineers, labourers, financial dealers, para-medics, nurses, radiologists, tellers, checkout workers, shelf stackers, delivery drivers, factory workers, cleaners, software programmers, IT workers, draymen, call centre operators, print workers, sewing machinists, chiropodists, postal workers, meat processors, packers, sales assistants, upholsterers.

Expert Witness

John Ridd, the Managing Partner of JRP Ergonomics, has been writing expert reports for some 14 years, especially in the area of musculoskeletal injuries amongst workers.

He has also been instructed in cases where accidents have resulted in a wide range of injuries, and where ergonomics issues have been material to the argument. Of note in this category are cases where death or injury has resulted from falling materials; head, leg and foot injuries related to workplace design, as well as tripping accidents. He has written numerous reports and appeared in court, and before Industrial Tribunals in this capacity, on a number of occasions for both Defendant and Claimant representatives.

Most instructions are now as a Single Joint Expert, but where individual parties provide instructions there is a broadly even balance between Claimant and Defendant work.

Mr John Ridd
