Style of Standard Courses
Standard courses are offered either as 'open' or 'in-house' courses.
Open courses are usually run in hotels, and delegates come from a number of different employers – a particular advantage of this type of course is the opportunity to interact and exchange information with other workers with similar problems or roles.
In-house courses ensure that the issues addressed are specific to your own activities and/or work environment, as well as being a relatively cheap method of getting a number of employees trained in a particular skill.
Many of the courses are developed around the legal requirements placed upon employers, and the
training emphasises what the employer must do as well as demonstrating the potential benefits that can
result from these actions.
Competency
Some courses are offered with a test of competency. It is a legal
requirement, for example, that risk assessments are carried out by
suitably competent people. Our courses check competency with a short
written test and a practical assessment, which may take the form of a
completed risk assessment or a practical demonstration of acquired
knowledge. A certificate will be issued to those passing the
competency tests.
Specific Courses
Any of our courses can be adapted to suit your company interests. It is also possible to mix and match
modules of courses as required. For example:
-
Musculoskeletal disorders and their prevention
-
Upper limb disorders – their assessment and prevention
-
Ergonomics Essentials - a highly practical and certificated 5 day course is available on special request.
We have also found that there is a demand
for courses aimed at specific groups of workers and we have adapted our
standard courses to offer highly relevant training:
Manual
handling for office workers
Office
ergonomics for equipment suppliers
